HKJJA to launching first jewellery and watch machinery and equipment show
Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA) is launching its first professional jewellery and watch machinery and equipment exhibition - METS 2014
Consumers are becoming more knowledgeable about and appealed to jewellery and watches, which calls for more stringent standards for quality and design. As the global jewellery manufacturing base is moving eastwards, machinery, equipment, design solutions and raw materials are in huge demand in Asia. In coping with the needs, the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA)is launching its first professional jewellery and watch machinery and equipment exhibition - METS 2014 (Machinery, Equipment,Technology, Supplies for Jewellery & Watch Industry) at the AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong, from 25 to 28 June 2014.
Why did HKJJA decide to launch METS 2014?
According to Mr. Benedict Sin, Chairman of HKJJA, organizer of METS 2014, HKJJA has a rich experience in co-organizing the Hong Kong Pavilion with prestigious jewellery shows worldwide for more than 40 years. The association truly understands the needs of the jewellery and watch making industry in Asia. He says: “Asia has become a jewellery manufacturing hub where more automated processing machinery, production technology, testing equipment, design software, supplies, and spare parts are required by manufacturers who are striving for competitiveness. Nevertheless, there has been an absence of quality and professional jewellery machinery fairs in Asia. METS 2014 is to provide a one-stop purchase platform for our members and jewellery makers in the region.
“Jewellery maintains a very close relationship with watches. Watches set with gemstones are gaining momentum. They are indeed a piece of jewellery. It has become a common scene for watchmakers to introduce jewellery collections, while it is quite a trend for jewellers to diversify into making gem-set watches. METS 2014 is set to provide these market leaders for luxury goods with better manufacturing solutions.”
What is the exhibit profile?
METS 2014 covers the entire jewellery and watch production process. The exhibits include various precious metal processing machinery, rapid prototyping equipment, polishing and cleaning equipment and materials, product management systems, testing apparatus, raw materials, design systems and software, supplies, spare parts, watch movements and components, etc.
What is the scale of METS 2014? What are the estimated numbers of exhibitors and buyers?
“The first METS will be housing renowned suppliers and their Asian agents of jewellery and watch making machinery, equipment, and raw materials. We are confident to see a larger scale in the subsequent editions,” Mr. Sin says. “HKJJA is one of the most significant jewellery trade organizations in Hong Kong representing a large number of local jewellers. We have a good connection with trade fraternities in the city, Mainland China, Asia, and the rest of the world. Our extensive international network will help bring in a substantial number of quality buyers,” he adds.
Is there any special arrangement for publicity and promotion?
Other than motivating our members, HKJJA has planned a series of promotional activities, such as sending invitations to members of overseas trade organizations, publicizing on professional jewellery magazines and websites, and launching extensive promotions at jewellery fairs all over the world.
